I'm not sure what recruiters would see, but on my own profile page under Your Most Popular Repositories the top repo is one that does not belong to me and I think I never worked on (although it's a random repo from a colleague, so it may be that there is a commit of mine in it). I have tons of repos that I heavily contribute to, a few have several thousand stars, but no one of these is under my personal GitHub name because I like to use organizations for larger projects. Those repos don't show anywhere right now. Maybe you should rather use the GitHub pins instead of sorting personal repos by stars?
